Heart's Desires To Action
How do we take what is in our heart and put it into action? God has given us all desires connected to our purpose in life. If we think about our gifts it makes sense that those gifts are tools to be used to cultivate something. I mean, how appropriate is it for a singer to desire to sing or a carpenter to desire to build something? Yet without the necessary tools needed to complete their tasks would deem them useless in their craft. Therefore, if the desire for the carpenter is to build, what fulfillment would he have if he did not manifest his desire into action. I believe this is to be said about anything and everything.
We cannot get results without transforming the desires God put into our hearts to action -and we all possess the tools needed to achieve what we were called to do. But there seems to be a common order that takes place to get from desire to action. For eg. A carpenter must first have the desire in His heart to build something otherwise it will have no meaning. So, as his desire in his heart is to be a builder, his thoughts about his desire will manifest a vision of what he will build. He will now have to take action to allow that vision to become reality. Once he completes his vision through action -then his house that he built will have become the fulfillment and completed result of his desired vision -making him a doer not just a dreamer.
But what about our words -do they have any effect on what we do? Take a closer look at a clear example God gives us in the Bible. In the beginning God said, "Let there be light!" and there was light! That shows us the power that God's words have. But also notice how his words were followed by action. So imagine speaking God's WORD in prayer over all our tasks or gifts given to us. His word should strengthen us and give us the confidence we need to bring that desire -to vision- the vision to action, and that action will manifest itself into new behaviours. God's words in the beginning stated in Genesis started a series of action that created the entire universe.
Now let's think about this. Did God have a desire for the universe and mankind? God first had to first have a deep desire towards creation. That desire must have rolled around in His mind until it gave birth to a vision. And this vision was empowered and put to action through His words.
So it is clear to me the chain of events that happened here. God had a desire -that desire gave birth to a vision -that vision was brought to action by his words -and his words cultivated his behaviour as the Ultimate Creator.
So, the lesson to be learned here is not to allow our desires to get lost within ourselves -we must have the courage to take the time and allow God to transform that desire into the vision He has planned for our lives. Then we must take that vision and put it into action. Nothing can be gained by sitting on a vision or dream. And most of all -it stops us from allowing God's glory to shine forth through our lives.
What vision or desire can you allow God to help develop in you today?
