THE SAME THING...AGAIN!

Ever go through a situation and think, "Why do I keep going through the same thing....AGAIN!"  Feels frustrating sometimes doesn't it! Well, I've come to learn that with every situation we face, somewhere in it is a lesson God wants us to learn.  Now that doesn't mean that God intentionally sets up obstacles ALL the time to mess with us.

One of my biggest frustrations is hearing people say "Everything happens for a reason!"   I detest that statement so much it really makes me upset.  Because it makes me feel you are saying to me that hurtful things that happen, God made it to happen that way.  That is soooooo far from the truth!

What people don't understand is that life...this life we are in is not God's best for us.  When He created the world and the first human being, He intended for THIS world to be perfect.  However because of the corruption of sin, we are forced to live in a world full of war, poverty, fear, murder, starvation, etc.  This is not how things were meant to be.  The fact that we were created in God's image...meaning He created us like Himself...He gave us the gift of free will.  The ability to make our own choices.  And frankly, as human beings we all can make some messed up choices from time to time.  It will never fail.  But thank God we have the new heaven and earth to look forward to after the coming of Christ! I can't wait for that day!

Unfortunately until then we will constantly experience what I call the Dorie syndrome? Dorie! You know that fish in the movie Finding Nemo that keeps on forgetting stuff all the time a few moments later.  I think human beings are a bunch of Dories sometimes, eh! We always seem to need constant reminders of everything.  That is why we are always going through the same situations over and over again, because we can't seem to remember the lesson learned unless we've experienced the consequence a hundred times to finally GET IT!

In order to experience change in our lives we must allow every obstacle to do what it is meant to do....change us as human beings for the better.  So try to have a different outlook on the storms that pass through your life.  Think about...what you can do to learn a lesson to change a negative behaviour pattern or trait.  Maybe we need to exercise more patience, more faith, or force ourselves to stop relying on our own abilities.  Maybe we need to stop manipulating the outcome of situations all the time and allow God to take the lead in our lives.

Either way we need to allow our circumstances to lead us towards change.  After all, practice (doing it over and over again) will eventually develop the ability to ease through our circumstances without as much pain or anxiety.  It takes practice, I know.  But just remember...we have God to be our guide, always!
